Since our first issue hit stands in 1974, we have been striving to tell compelling stories about the people behind the issues, as opposed to just the issues themselves. We serve and delight you by providing ideas about beauty, food and style through the lens of the people influencing the trends. And we are a force for good by telling stories of hope, optimism and kindness that drive conversation and inspire action.

PEOPLE revolutionized personality journalism 50 years ago; today it is the world’s most successful and popular magazine. Each week, it brings 29 million consumers the latest news, exclusive interviews and in-depth reporting on the most compelling people of our time.

Job Description

PEOPLE magazine is looking for a food intern to work closely with its food and lifestyle editors. The ideal intern is a resourceful, independent person who jumps right in and becomes part of the staff—an aspiring food writer with a passion for and at least some expertise in the culinary industry.

Responsibilities might include reporting on and interviewing subjects, fact-checking and researching stories and some writing for digital—often all under intense deadline pressure.
The intern should have worked at a campus publication and/or in a food-related field—and be a creative thinker, a self-starter, professional, resourceful and a team player. Strong writing skills are a must. The intern must also be enthusiastic and see the big picture but pay close attention to detail, too—a thinker and a doer. He/she must also like working in a fast-paced, news-driven environment and feel comfortable using Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, etc. as reporting tools.

Because of the nature of news, some late evening and weekend work may be required. This is a full-time internship opportunity open to current students and recent grads who are able to dedicate 40 hours/week to the role.

To Apply

Send your resume, cover letter and writing samples to Kalina Ollinger at with the subject line, “Food Intern Application.” Deadline for applying is March 1, 2024.

Please note: No follow-ups, please! If you are chosen for an interview, you will be notified.
