Media Organization: Payload Space

Company Description

Payload is the leading media brand covering the business and policy of space. Our goal is to provide the best analysis and coverage of the space industry for investors, founders, engineers, scientists, and policymakers.

Job Description

The Role
We’re looking for a reporter to contribute part-time to Payload’s newsletter and website. This individual will primarily contribute to the newsletter by curating aggregated content for the bottom-half sections of the newsletter. They may also occasionally contribute short articles to the daily newsletter. We’re a small team, so we’re looking for a self-starter who plays nicely with a tight-knit newsroom.

Salary: $20/hr. This is a part-time position (5-10 hours/week). You'll always be able to work remotely anywhere in the United States.

In this role, you will:
- Curate the aggregated newsletter sections, including a weekly schedule of space events, hiring announcements, funding news, contract awards, and top stories for each week
- Occasionally pitch the managing editor on newsletter stories and write as they’re assigned

We’re looking for someone who:
- Has an eye for detail and checks facts meticulously
- Is studying journalism or a related field, or is an early-career reporter
- Has an interest in or knowledge of space, politics, or business
