We advocate for and empower the transgender community by developing effective communication and public affairs strategies executing them in a way that amplifies their voices and experiences in order to address and reverse the negative rhetoric aimed at the community.

Job Description

About the Internship

We are seeking a passionate and organized intern to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in media outreach, public education, and transgender advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct media research to identify relevant journalists, bloggers, and media outlets.

• Draft press releases, media pitches, and other communication materials related to our work.

• Assist with monitoring media coverage and compiling press clips.

• Support in coordinating media interviews with staff and stakeholders (as needed).

• Stay up-to-date on current events and issues impacting the transgender community.

• Participate in brainstorming sessions and media strategy development.

• Lead social media creation and outreach related to media coverage.

• Collaborate and coordinate with media consultant employed by the organization

• Make changes to organization website via square space (www.grace-now.org) to add press releases and content

Qualifications

• Strong interest in LGBTQ+ advocacy and social justice issues.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficient in research and information gathering techniques.

• Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

• Interest in learning about media relations and nonprofit communications.

• A commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable world.
