Job Description

Success in this role means delivering sharp, compelling stories with integrity while engaging in a fast-paced digital newsroom.

Responsibilities:
- Produce High-Quality Journalism: Write engaging, well-researched articles that align with Stringer’s content strategy.
- Cover a Variety of Topics: Writers will be assigned to specialized beats (e.g., politics, culture, sports, human rights) while also having the flexibility to explore diverse angles.
- SEO-Optimized Writing: Ensure articles are optimized for search engines by using targeted keywords and hyperlinking reputable sources.
- Adhere to Stringer’s Editorial Standards: Follow AP Style and source information from verified databases such as LexisNexis and FOIA requests.
- Engage with Visual Media: Capture relevant images (high-quality smartphone photos acceptable) to enhance stories and boost engagement.
- Collaborate with Team Leads: Work within an organized workflow system to meet deadlines, receive feedback, and revise stories efficiently.
- Contribute to Social Media Growth: Writers are expected to share their articles on platforms such as Twitter and LinkedIn to enhance visibility and engagement.

Qualifications:
- Strong writing and storytelling abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Familiarity with AP Style and journalistic best practices.
- Commitment to ethical reporting and fact-based journalism.
- Ability to research, fact-check, and use credible sources.
- Experience with SEO strategies and digital audience engagement is a plus.
- Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
- Comfortable integrating visuals (photos, graphics, etc.) into written content.
- Social media proficiency, with an understanding of content distribution strategies.
