Media and Communications Intern

The Sikh Coalition is seeking a creative and dynamic intern to work with our Media and Communications senior staff on projects aimed at enhancing the way we communicate with reporters, community members, and everybody in between. An ideal candidate would possess skills and background in more than one of these areas: digital/social media, basic graphic design, journalism, or public relations. This candidate must be a strong writer and have a good sense of humor!

The internship will be managed by two directors who will be sharing project management responsibilities on a variety of communications-related projects that you will be working on. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in getting a real tutorial in how an organization manages media and communications work across numerous platforms in addition to the hands-on experience in a non-profit setting that helps to empower and educate.

We are looking for someone who has:
• A high level of attention to detail and organization.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including interviewing skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign preferred.
• Previous digital media experience (required).
• Communications, public relations, or journalism background.
• Knowledge of the Sikh Coalition's mission and previous initiatives is a plus.
• Applicants should either be pursuing or have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree.

Studio 360 intern/volunteer

The Peabody Award-winning "Studio 360 with Kurt Andersen," from PRI and WNYC, is public radio’s smart and surprising guide to what's happening in pop culture and the arts.

Studio 360 is looking for sharp, enthusiastic self-starters, with or without radio skills, to participate in our program as interns and volunteers.

We accept Interns who are current students (undergraduate or graduate), or who have graduated no more than 12 months prior to the start of the internship.

We also welcome Volunteers, no longer in school, who want to explore radio and multimedia production.

Terms last about four months and require at least a 21-hour commitment (full-time interns and volunteers are preferred).

The internship takes place at New York Public Radio in Lower Manhattan. There is a $12 stipend per day. Terms coincide with the academic calendar: roughly September-December, January-April, and May-August.

Beauty & Health Intern

Town & Country is seeking a hard working, meticulous intern to directly assist the beauty and health department, beginning in late May or early June. We are looking for interns who can work 2 to 3 days a week through the summer months.

Tasks will include (but are not limited to) assisting editors with articles, transcribing, researching, pitching web stories, administration, managing inventory, and participating in editorial and market meetings.

Candidate must be a quick study, ambitious, pro-active, organized, prompt, curious of mind, and possess a positive attitude.

Carnegie Ethics Studio Intern

Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs' media studio is seeking an intern, whose primary role will be helping with research and outreach for Carnegie Council productions.

This will include:

-Researching story ideas, interview subjects, and potential partners; maintaining an outreach database
-Leading outreach to promote Carnegie Council's Impact podcast
-Pitching new ideas for outreach strategy
-Assisting with social media content and strategy
-Conducting research on various topics within international affairs, foreign policy, business, economics, and ethical theory
-Researching and identifying potential interviewees for Carnegie Council's Impact podcast
-Assisting with other various projects as needed, including administration and program management
-Providing staff support at Carnegie Council events

This is a great opportunity for a serious, driven student looking to work on a hands-on assignment with clear goals and outputs. Depending on ability/capacity, intern may have additional opportunities to work within the organization on writing, research, and production projects. Interns will also have opportunities to attend Carnegie Council events and meetings, learn about various departments within a well-established ethics/foreign policy organization, and pitch project ideas.

REQUIREMENTS
-Undergraduate (junior or senior preferred) or graduate student in political science, international relations, communications, marketing, journalism, or other relevant field of study
-Excellent written communication skills required; experience in journalism and marketing/outreach for media products preferred
-Complex research skills required; strong familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Google Docs
-Interest in and strong knowledge of global politics and international affairs issues
-Well-organized, reliable, very close attention to detail, ability to remain organized while working on multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines
-Previous internship experience desirable

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

This is an unpaid internship. School credit can be arranged and a transportation stipend of $25 a day will be provided. The intern will work approximately 20 hours per week, 2-3 days per week.

This internship will begin early June. Interviews will be scheduled for late March/early April.

Summer 2016 Journalism Internship

Task & Purpose, a rapidly growing news and culture site geared toward the modern military and veterans community, is looking to add to our dynamic team with a summer editorial internship.
As an intern with a popular military news start-up, you’ll have the chance to engage in every aspect of the editorial process, from researching and writing stories, to copy-editing and creating independent reports.
Our interns are a valued part of our team. You’ll work closely with Task & Purpose’s writers and editors to help conceive and execute the big ideas. Qualifications:

Interns are expected to pitch and write stories for the Web on a variety of topics, including news, features, human interest pieces, and well as multimedia articles.
Must be outgoing and a self-starter.
Hours are flexible and students are welcome to apply. Military experience or connection helps, but isn’t as necessary as a critical mind and a passion for news.
Interns will receive a stipend and be additionally compensated for any stories they create.

Summer Editorial Intern

The Observer’s newsroom boasts a unique and tightly knit culture that benefits from both the energy and fearlessness of young reporters and as the experience and wisdom of editors. Interns are integrated into this environment and into the weekly production cycle of the paper, where they have the opportunity to gain invaluable reporting and general newsroom experience. When the paper is on deadline, interns are charged with fact-checking articles as they move from writer to editor to copy desk to production. When not on deadline, interns are encouraged to become acquainted with editors and writers, get involved in longer-term projects, and do their own reporting and writing for the website and paper.

Editorial Intern

The Architect's Newspaper is looking for interns to work 16 hours (two days) a week with our editorial staff in AN’s Tribeca offices. Ideal candidates will be strong writers, game for covering events, lectures, and openings, and knowledgeable on the basics of WordPress and Photoshop.
