Our interns are enthusiastic about local news; are majoring in journalism, communications, English, history or a related field; have excellent writing and communication skills; and have extensive knowledge of communicating on social media. Knowledge of audio and video editing software is a plus.

Editorial Intern

Domino is looking for a passionate, hardworking Editorial Intern to join our design-obsessed team.

Over the course of roughly 12 weeks (part-time, about 30 hours a week), you’ll become ingrained in the day-to-day of creating engaging digital content, working closely with our nimble team of editors across Domino’s editorial department. You’re someone who’s ready to jump in and lend a hand, whether that’s in reaching out to expert sources, producing stories in our CMS, or writing timely pieces for our website. A can-do attitude and enthusiasm for interior design are musts. Interns are paid minimum New York City wage for their work.

These are virtual-first internships and we are open to candidates from anywhere in the US.

Summer 2022 Credit Editorial Intern

Salon.com is seeking an editorial intern for the summer 2022 semester to join our team!

Interns are an important part of Salon’s daily editorial operations. They work closely with Salon staff to research, report, write and produce our news and culture coverage. They also learn about the day-to-day workings of an award-winning online news and entertainment site. Many Salon interns have gone on to jobs in the media, including Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Elle, CNN and, of course, Salon.

This is a remote-based position. We require a time commitment of roughly 12 hours per week, with a flexible schedule. The internship requires college credit. Some professional experience is required.

Fall Writing Intern, Spectrum

Spectrum is seeking an intern to report and write articles for the Spectrum site. This is an excellent opportunity for a beginning science journalist to cover the fast-moving field of autism. This paid internship has a 24 hour-per-week minimum requirement. The internship is expected to start in September 2022 and will last 3-4 months. The internship will take place at the Simons Foundation's New York City office.

You will learn how to report and write articles that educate, challenge and inspire our audience of scientists, and you'll leave with a collection of great clips. A background or strong interest in neuroscience, genetics, cognition and behavior is essential.

Editorial Interns For Spring 2022

Mediaite is now accepting intern applications for the Spring 2021 semester, beginning in January. The ideal candidate is a current college or graduate student looking for hands-on writing and research experience at a news and politics site.

As an intern, you’ll gain vital experience working for a digital media outlet. Tasks include copy editing, researching, transcribing, and the opportunity to write for Mediaite. You will have the chance to contribute to stories for our site that millions of people will see. English, Journalism, or Political Science degrees are especially encouraged to apply. You’ll be collecting bylines and padding a portfolio of writing samples, learning from our dynamic team of talented writers and editors.

We are accepting candidates who can work from wherever — this internship can be virtual or in person at our offices in New York City.

This is a for credit intern position – so talk to your school – and yes, several of our full-time editors over the years began in the intern program!

Virtual Spring Intern

Applications are now open for our Virtual Spring Internship Program.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are offering virtual internships at this time. However, we will ask students to come into the office if we feel it is safe. In that scenario, we will open our office to students with precautionary measures in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Intern positions are available in our editorial and digital departments. Amsterdam News interns must be located in the New York City-area and have a passion for writing about the Black community.

Our Spring internships are for-credit and will last 13 weeks (10-20hrs/week).

Students are required to have access to a reliable internet source and their own computer or laptop. Students will also be required to participate in weekly video conference meetings with staff, editors and the internship coordinator.
