Story Coordinator / Booker

Story Coordinators are responsible for finding, securing and coordinating elements for national TV news segments in a highly competitive environment under very tight deadlines.
Candidates must have excellent research, phone and people skills. Daily duties involve making numerous phone calls to secure interviews and obtain information, doing background research utilizing public records and conducting pre-interviews.

Applicants must be highly motivated team players who can juggle multiple projects and work well under pressure.
Prior experience in TV/Print/Web journalism is required. Applicants must be able to work nights and weekends as necessary. This is a lower-level position with strong possibility for upward movement.

Designer

The ideal candidate must exhibit a mastery of creative thinking with solid news judgment. 

Summary of Job Responsibilities:  

Works collaboratively and is adept at finding design solutions. Works in a teamwork atmosphere with the Assistant Managing Editor of Lifestyle and Features editors to execute clean designs for our lifestyle sections at the Chronicle. Strong design skills are preferred with particular focus on well-designed pages and packages demonstrating creativity and strong attention to detail and deadlines. Designer should have a firm understanding of all levels of production, and capable of not only contributing to the project at hand but communicating effectively with editors and fellow designers.

 

Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:

  •         More than five years of experience at major metropolitan newspaper.
  •         Must have knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows, and Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign programs. Knowledge of CCI NewsGate is preferred.
  •         Digital design skills are a big plus.

Copy Editor

The San Francisco Chronicle is looking for an experienced copy editor versatile enough to be a strong component of a semi-universal desk (Features, News, Business -- knowledge of Sports a must).

Ideal candidate:

Willing and able to fill in as a backup copy chief (slot) and has the news judgment and disposition to fill in as the A1 night editor;
Edit stories for grammar, style, consistency and facts; check metadata and SEO headlines;

Associate Soccer Writer

OPB Seeks General Assignment Reporter/Producer

The General Assignment Reporter/Producer researches, reports and produces multiple news stories daily for digital, social and broadcast media. In the digital-first world of breaking news, this reporter will turn around copy quickly for the web and social media and produce fast turn-around copy and spot news for broadcast. The reporter/producer records and edits material on a digital audio workstation, interviews newsmakers, and works with the news and web staff to ensure that the news of the day is well represented online and in newscasts in a timely manner. This reporter also produces material for national networks.

Working Conditions:

The reporter will work primarily in the office though occasionally will report from the field. Their shift will include at least one weekend day and will begin at 7 a.m. The work may require travel to remote locations, working evenings or weekends, and possibly working in inclement weather.  Lifting and carrying equipment up to 20 pounds is sometimes required.

This hire will create video content that is highly entertaining and that brings to life soccer news and culture from many angles. This position will work collaboratively with the rest of our staff to identify a diversity of original concepts and to bring them to life through a mix of original footage, motion graphics, curated clips, etc.
