Job Description

The Global Business Coalition for Education is seeking an experienced and dynamic manager to lead its external communications. The coalition consists of a network of more than 100 high profile businesses supporting global education around the world and has a track record in leading innovative and groundbreaking partnerships and initiatives.

The role will suit someone that is well-organized, efficient and able to lead and deliver highly effective communications, appropriate for mainstream, education and business audiences.

This role will require the candidate to maintain relationships at the highest level by interacting with private sector communications teams, international agencies and governments. The candidate will also oversee a database of key global public opinion formers and media working on the issue of innovative private sector partnerships and global education in particular.

The role is based in New York but provides an opportunity to gain experience of education projects and campaigns that are active internationally.

We are looking for someone who is familiar with international development and the private sector, and is able to translate complex issues into compelling communications products. The ideal candidate will have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, be personable, be a proactive and forward thinker and open to new challenges in a dynamic working environment.

The candidate will be able to support internal staff delivering our digital community management as well as manage external freelancers and agencies where necessary.

This post would suit someone with experience in corporate communications looking for their impact career next step or a journalist looking for a new role. There is the potential for the post to be part time depending on skill set and experience of the applicant.

Minimum Requirements

Experience working with media teams from corporates and international agencies
Ability to develop robust short- and long-term communications strategies around key advocacy moments and events
5+ years of communications experience using social media platforms, online content and related analytics tools (e.g., Keyhole, TweetDeck)
Experience managing the development of online graphics, invitations, briefings report layouts
Experience managing a team and an ability to work virtually with teams across offices
Experience working on inter-agency communications groups and external partners
A solid understanding of the international development and the global education landscape
Great attention to details and solid copy editing skills
