JEHANE NOUJAIM is an award-winning filmmaker and an Academy Award-nominated director. In 2014, Noujaim directed and produced THE SQUARE which won numerous awards including the Directors Guild Award, the International Documentary Award, and was the first film to win the Audience Award at both the Sundance and Toronto film festivals. Noujaim has produced and directed other award- winning films such as RAFEA: SOLAR MAMA (2013), CONTROL ROOM (2004) and STARTUP.COM (2001). Noujaim’s work has been exhibited at international festivals such as Sundance, Toronto, Berlin, Amsterdam, Dubai, and has been shown in theaters and broadcast globally. For her films, she was awarded the prestigious TED Prize in 2006 and was nominated as a Young Global Leader in 2007. Each TED Prizewinner is granted a wish to change the world. Noujaim’s wish was to create a day in which the power of film could bring people from all over the world together to form a global community. This day was Pangea Day: a live video-conference featuring music, film, and speakers that took place in 1800 locations, in over 100 countries of the world.
KARIM AMER is an Oscar-nominated filmmaker, best known for producing the documentary, THE SQUARE in 2014, nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and received Emmy Awards for Directing, Cinematography, and Editing in 2014. Karim was also the producer of the award-winning film, RAFEA: SOLAR MAMA (2013), and has teamed up with Angelina Jolie to executive produce the upcoming animated feature, THE BREADWINNER. Karim is a graduate of NYU.
Job Description
Noujaim Films is looking for an enthusiastic and talented Production/Post-Production intern to join our team for the duration of the Fall Semester.
You will be working with Karim Amer, Jehane Noujaim, and the team behind the Academy Award-nominated documentary, The Square, and Netflix's The Great Hack.
We are looking for someone who is passionate and knowledgable about documentary film, extremely committed and preferably with some experience working in film or tv. Must also have strong analytical, research, and writing skills and work well as part of a team and independently.
The position will require conducting research to assist the production team with story and archival development, assisting with footage transcription and subtitling, office administrative duties, amongst other things.
Internship can be for credit if needed, but not mandatory. A small travel stipend will be provided.
