Job Description

IBT is looking for bright and passionate journalism-trained individuals to head up and grow special-interest sections of our international newspaper. We are seeking editors for the Travel, Art & Design, Fashion, Health, Autos, Education, Forex, Commodities, Luxury and Books sections.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable in an entrepreneurial/startup environment and have experience producing breaking and enterprising stories and be familiar with the web.

This start-up position will favor journalists with a mind to aggressively develop and grow the reach of their section.

Strong initiative is required, with a desire and passion to help build the best global newspaper in the world.

The editor / section manager will be responsible for shaping the online experience for the assigned section, determining news priorities his/her self and, later a team of reporters, and understand how to present that information in ways that enlighten busy readers.

The main metric of success will be traffic growth and the candidate will be allowed to use his/her own articles, contributors’ content, social media, SEO, distribution channels, and other means to grow his/her readership base.

The job requires strong news judgment, a deep understanding of the business world, and strong reporting skills.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

Duties:

- Grow the section and its traffic from a start-up to a national and worldwide-reaching newspaper
- Produce coverage of the top stories in your section
- Maintain and Update the section
- Reach traffic goals
Qualifications :

- Preferred two years experience at a major news organization
- Journalism Education
- Experience with web publishing, editing, writing
- Knowledge of online distribution methods, SEO, Social Media
- Comfortable with a digital-only newsroom
