Digital Media Wire seeks a Los Angeles-based content/editorial/publishing executive for its website, dmwmedia.com,
and daily newsletters to oversee, create, aggregate and contribute content (news articles, video interviews, features, product reviews and editorials) about business developments and product and service
launches in the digital media industry, including developments in games, music, online video, television, social media, consumer electronics and advertising. This individual will be expected to live and breath (well, maybe that's too strong; but you need to love it!) news and content about business and legal trends, financings, product launches and career moves at leading entertainment media and technology companies including Apple, Google, Facebook, Disney, Electronic Arts, Pandora, Universal Music, etc. as well as industry
start-ups. The successful applicant will be based in DMW's West Hollywood office on the Sunset Strip and will oversee a NYC-based freelance writer and build a team of interns, guest contributors, and content partners.
-Experience in the world of creating, managing and deploying content (with at least half of it at the “management/deployment” level)
-Prior management experience
-Ability to lead, manage, direct, motivate and inspire a team
-Energetic, imaginative, deeply interested in digital media business news and trends.
-Capable of building content sources and generating leads
-Interest in working with the DMW events and business teams and identifying sponsored content opportunities.
-Keen understanding of SEO and the ability to analyze regional site traffic reports, and make decisions based on them
-Experience in online journalism, including comfort with technical aspects of web publishing and social media tools and trends
-Experience editing photography and video
-Must have a firm grasp of AP style
-Multi-tasker, outgoing personality, team player and entrepreneurial vision are a must
-Familiarity with opportunities and challenges of working for a small new media company, where you have to wear many hats.
- Bachelors degree in journalism or similar discipline and 4-5 years relevant work experience
