Job Description

Expectations: Assisting editors with duties such as reviewing transcripts and video footage, fact checking, researching, transcribing and reporting. Interns will learn valuable lessons about how a publication is put together, including research, writing, learning how to meet prompt deadlines and how to deliver multimedia content.

Duties:
- Researching and fact-checking for stories
- Review letters to the editor and transcribe letters that will be printed.
- Review transcribed interviews, some transcription as needed.
- Research publications and other resources for possible leads on exciting or
interesting people to feature in Sister 2 Sister’s biographical columns.
- Research to find fresh and exciting entertainment news.
- Answer telephones, take messages, and distribute messages.
- Assist editorial staff as needed.

Interns are expected to work for one full college semester, or for at least eight weeks during summer. Renewal for an additional time period may be approved. Sister 2 Sister requires a minimum of four hours of work per attendance day. We recommend 16 hours per attendance week. Interns must give Sister 2 Sister editors at least one week’s notice of upcoming exams.

Required skills: (1) Computer literacy including mastery of word processing software and ability to access and use the Internet. (2) Excellent grammar, spelling and speaking ability. (3) Evidence of ability to learn excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal relationship skills. (4) Skills in graphics software and Final Cut Pro are a plus.
