Journalism Internship
Media Organization: Africa.com
Company Description
Africa.com is a two-year-old start-up website that is committed to providing original and objective content about the continent. We are focused on covering key categories of news and information about Africa in a growing environment based in New York City and South Africa.
Job Description
Africa.com is looking for journalistically-minded editorial interns to help create and update content for our finance section. We are looking for interns to help research headlines about financial news pertaining to Africa, to write introductions to said news stories, and to contribute posts to our finance blog.
This position is ideal for students who are interested in economics, foreign policy, and the impact that the global financial spotlight will have on Africa in the coming decades. At Africa.com, interns will learn about how to manage news at an online media outlet. We are looking for interns who are self-enterprising, eager to learn about content management in both WordPress and proprietary environments, and who are interested in working in a rich environment in which self-penned pieces are heartily welcomed.
Familiarity with creating video content is a plus, although not required.
Fall internships begin on September 4th, with flexibility. Fall 2012 interns in good standing will be considered for extension through the winter. Africa.com internships are unpaid and can be credited.
