Job Description

Position: Yahoo! News Summer Intern, Editor/Blogger
Location: New York, New York
Compensation: Paid - dependent on experience
Approximate Internship Period: Up to 12 weeks between May-August

Description:
Yahoo! News is seeking a summer intern in New York to support all aspects of its editorial efforts. The ideal candidate is a digital-savvy newshound who also reads widely, and who has a native interest in everything from crime to politics to culture, and a strong desire to write and learn about the editing process.

Job Responsibilities:
-Edit and write content as assigned for sections or blogs within Yahoo! News
-Research articles and topics, as needed
-Support various editorial publishing tasks, as needed
-Liaise and support various members of the internal team, including product managers, content producers, and others to support all aspects of the editorial process and meet deadlines

Minimum Job Qualifications:
-An undergraduate student currently in their Sophomore or Junior year
-Journalism students strongly preferred
-Should have a grasp of the competitive landscape of online news, and a passion for news
-Previous blogging experience is a plus
-Working knowledge of the social web
-Detail-oriented and willing to work on a range of editorial tasks
-Must be HTML literate and comfortable with web publishing standards
-Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
-Strong editing, grammar, and online writing skills
-Familiarity with SEO, RSS, Twitter, Facebook and other social media is a plus
-Photoshop skills, experience with blog publishing and content management systems is a plus
