Job Description

Business Monthly, an editorially independent magazine published by the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, seeks a full-time staff writer. Based in our Cairo office, the writer will conceive, report and write feature stories on business and economic news and trends in Egypt—
from tax legislation to traffic problems, social entrepreneurship to the electricity shortage. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, hungry and have some experience working as a journalist. Business writing experience is not required, but he or she should have a strong interest in the Middle East and especially Egyptian news and current affairs. Graceful writing and tenacious, accurate research and reporting skills are essential, as is a willingness to work long hours when necessary, including occasional weekends. This is a great opportunity for a talented, ambitious writer looking for an adventure to gain experience and great clips doing in-depth news features in post-revolutionary Egypt at a particularly critical moment for the most populous nation in the Arab World. Some Arabic would be a plus but is not required.
