Job Description

Medical Daily is seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and driven Brand Editor to join a growing and exciting newsroom focused on healthcare, medical science, and tech.

The Brand Editor is part of a news team responsible for the ongoing publication of news and features on Specifically, the brand editor will be responsible for the day to day operations of the site.

Primary Responsibilities

The Brand Editor will work closely with our staff writers to develop, approve, and assign story ideas, to help maintain voice and tone across the site, and to make independent editorial decisions when called upon. You may need to line- and copy-edit as needed.

Because you will be the point person for 10-15 writers in a very fast-paced editorial environment, both critical thinking and a calm demeanor are absolutely required for this position. Top candidates will have strong communication skills — both written and verbal — and will be able to rationalize and present their editorial ideas and decisions effectively.

The Brand Editor will also work closely with our social media marketing manager to help execute a content marketing strategy, so it will help if you’ve had some experience with content marketing and SEO optimization. Generally, we are looking for candidates who are very web-savvy.

Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who can think creatively, and who is driven to succeed, all the while championing the user and brand at every opportunity. This is a staff position that reports directly to the Editor in Chief of Medical Daily, and will be called upon to act as EIC in his/her absence. The job is based in NYC.

Desired Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have had significant exposure to editorial production and a solid understanding of web publishing. Interest in consumer health, health information, science, and technology is a plus.


-A bachelor’s degree in English, communications, media, public health, social sciences, or other related field
-Minimum 3 years of online editing experience required, preferably with some time managing other writers (although for the right candidate, this could be waived)
-A solid understanding of web publishing and SEO best practices
-Some experience working in a Content Management System
-High standards of editorial integrity
-Highly organized, accurate, and detail-oriented
-Able to manage multiple projects at one time
