Press4Kids was incorporated in 2012, and our team shares the goal of informing children about current news and world events — and inspiring them to read on a daily basis. We devoted a great deal of time and energy to ensure that our final products seamlessly combine literacy, fun, reading opportunities, and gamification to produce an engaging and interactive learning experience.

Job Description

Be a part of America's first daily newspaper just for kids! Join the News-O-Matic team to help deliver exciting news for young readers to help inspire a love of nonfiction at an early age. The News-O-Matic is one of the Top educational apps in the App Store, and we need help to grow. Come along and grow with us!

As an intern, you will be asked to help in the following ways:

•Collaborate with Editorial Team to help build the most engaging and appealing content for the edition each day.
•Perform research as required, including topics for news selection and background for existing stories; research may include web-based fact-finding or traditional reporting, such as interviewing subjects.
•Provide suggestions to best determine how to relay the information in a fun, engaging way that will appeal to target audience.
•Assist with the selection and organization of media (images and video) to accompany the stories of the day
•Write original content as directed by the Editor in Chief, including news articles for publication.
•Perform a variety of editorial tasks, including fact checking, maintenance of paperwork/contracts with authors, and running readability metrics on articles.
•Review and proofread content to ensure accuracy.

News-O-Matic is looking for a responsible, enthusiastic new member to join our team. Ideally you're a writer or reporter looking to make a difference in the world. We're trying to inspire a love of reading nonfiction, so hopefully you share our passion.You must be able to conduct research on the phone and online. You must have terrific writing skills and a sharp eye for detail. You must be able to dedicate at least one afternoon a week, though you can contribute much more if you'd like! You should want to GROW with us!
