Job Description

AlterNet, a popular news and information site, seeks a highly organized, tech savvy, versatile, media oriented person to be our Social Media and Image Editor. This person will manage AlterNet's social media presence, promote its content and assist in our visual image production to accompany our print articles to enhance traffic and visibility for the site, its writers and projects. The editor will assist in the development of new and creative social strategies to drive traffic and attract new followers, using a thorough understanding of analytics tools, primarily through Facebook and Twitter, but also in engaging other Social Media platforms.

The candidate should be an effective written and verbal communicator, familiar with the range of social marketing strategies, as well as the principles of promotion and media relationships. Being tuned into the independent media and progressive politics overall would be an asset, but not a requirement for the position.
