Job Description

AlterNet, the progressive, national news site with 4 million unique monthly visitors, seeks part-time editorial assistance. Candidates need to be located in New York, be available for meetings but will work at homeā€¦ or favorite cafe. This is not a writing position.

Job Duties:

Entering articles into our online content management system (Drupal), with careful attention to formatting issues.

Finding and entering relevant and gripping videos and photos to accompany articles.

Writing compelling headlines and teasers for articles.

General Qualifications sought:

*Research experience.
*Copy editing and writing skills a positive
*A natural eye for visual content.
*Knowledge of HTML and previous experience with CMS
*Attention to detail.
*Friendly and patient
Hours: 15-20/week.
Location: New York, New York
Compensation: $15+/hour.
