Paid Journalism Internship
Media Organization: Scholastic News
Scholastic Corporation is an American book publishing company known for publishing educational materials for schools, teachers, parents, and children, and selling and distributing them by mail order, via reading clubs and fairs and through their online store.
Scholastic News, an upper elementary magazine that brings grade-appropriate, curriculum-connected nonfiction and current events to classrooms, is seeking a paid intern. The job duties include fact-checking, researching and pitching story ideas, writing news shorts, and assisting with day-to-day tasks.
The ideal candidate has experience working in magazines or other print news media, is a very good writer, pays attention to detail, and has a good grasp on the types of stories that work well for our elementary school audience. Experience with InCopy is also a plus.
The internship will take place in the Scholastic office in New York City and will run through the Fall Semester. Interns would be asked to come into the office two days a week. The hours are 10 am to 6 pm.
If interested, please send a resume and cover letter (include the hours and dates during the week that you would be available to work) to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Candidates for the internship will be asked to complete a writing and editing test.
