Job Description

The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) is seeking a part-time editor to oversee the Knight International Media Innovators section of the International Journalists’ Network website.

The Knight International Media Innovators section features thought leadership posts from ICFJ Knight Fellows. Here they blog about their lessons learned on fellowship and share their expertise on tools and ideas shaping global trends in journalism.

The editor would oversee all content produced for the Knight blog, writing posts for the site and assigning and editing posts from the Fellows and their colleagues. The editor would work remotely on a contract basis.

Responsibilities include:

-Overseeing ICFJ Knight Fellows blogging, managing the section’s editorial calendar and writing and editing posts
-Assigning and editing posts from ICFJ Knight Fellows and freelance contributors, preferably with multimedia elements, and experimenting with new forms of engagement and storytelling
-Coordinating with IJNet managing editor on publication of posts
-Coordinating with IJNet program Officer who keeps analytics of top content and social media traction
-Helping to shape and execute ICFJ Knight’s social media engagement strategy for Knight-related IJNet content
-Helping ICFJ Knight team and IJNet managing editor ensure all grant objectives for the Knight International Media Innovators section are met
-Recruiting freelance writers as needed

Applicants should meet these requirements:

-Degree in journalism and/or 1-3 years online journalism experience
-Experience as an editor in a deadline-oriented newsroom, assigning stories and working on story ideas with writers
-Familiarity with media & tech industry
-Mastery of AP style
-Fluent in English
-Ability to work with a diverse set of global freelancers
-Experience with editorial and social media strategy and multimedia journalism highly desirable
