Moment Magazine, co-founded in 1975 by Elie Wiesel and Leonard Fein, is North America's premier independent magazine of Jewish thought and culture. Focusing on high-quality long and shortform journalism, Moment features a mix of articles: profiles of fascinating people, symposiums on political, cultural and religious topics, book reviews and much more.

Job Description

Each year, Moment identifies and supports a talented young journalist who already has significant journalism experience. The fellow is an integral part of the small, hard-working Moment team and has the opportunity to learn how magazine journalism gets made.

The fellow is expected to:

Spearhead online editorial production: writing and editing online pieces to fit Moment’s content, style and tone, including writing, editing, production and management of Moment’s newsletter and other digital projects, as well as involvement in website development.

Lead digital outreach efforts: promote Moment’s content through content-sharing partnerships; website development; expand Moment’s reach on social networks; increase traffic to Moment’s website; monitor data on website visitors through HubSpot and Google Analytics.

Fellows are also expected to help edit print/digital edition, and assist with a variety of other projects.

Fellows have gone on to be hired by The Atlantic, The Jerusalem Post, Slate and other publications. Minimum one-year commitment is required. Fellows receive a stipend plus 50 percent of cost of health insurance and work full-time in our Washington, DC office.

Desired Skills:

Previous reporting experience
Stellar writer
Comfort and experience with digital tools and platforms such as WordPress
Social-media mastery of at least two or three platforms
Positive attitude/Team player
Knowledge of HTML and Hubspot a plus
