JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

The Center on Media, Crime and Justice at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY) is looking for an entrepreneurial and dynamic deputy director (preferably with a background in journalism) to lead the expansion of one of the nation's most innovative criminal justice-journalism programs. She/He will work closely with the Center Director and a small, results-oriented team in running our daily online news service, in addition to fundraising, and management of our crime journalism fellowship programs. Although this is offered initially on a flexible part-time basis (up to 19 hours a week), the position can eventually become full time with the right applicant. If you're a self-starter with an interest in working on the frontier of new journalism, we want to hear from you. Qualified applicants should have interest or background in development/marketing as well as top-level writing, management and computer skills. Knowledge and/or experience in criminal justice is a plus. Occasional paid travel involved. This is a rare opportunity for growing a small, successful nonprofit into its full potential as a major national force. Salary is negotiable.
