Journalism Internship
Media Organization: Scholastic News
Company Description
Scholastic News is an upper elementary magazine that brings grade-appropriate, curriculum-connected nonfiction and current events to classrooms.
Job Description
Scholastic News is seeking a paid intern. The job duties include fact-checking, researching and pitching story ideas, writing occasional news shorts, transcribing interviews, and assisting with day-to-day tasks.
The ideal candidate has experience working in magazines or other print news media, is a very good writer, an expert fact-checker and researcher, pays attention to detail, and has a good grasp on the types of stories that work well for our elementary school audience. Experience with InCopy is also a bonus. Candidates for the internship will have to complete a writing and editing test.
The internship will take place in the Scholastic office in Soho, in New York City, and will run through the Fall Semester (possibly longer). Interns would be asked to come into the office at least two days a week (though they may be asked to come in on additional days). The hours are 10 am to 6 pm.
To Apply
Please send a resume and cover letter (include the hours and dates during the week that you would be available to work) to: internshipscholasticnews@gmail.com.
