Journalism Internship

Media Organization: Food Network Magazine- Hearst Corporation

Company Description

Hearst Magazines is one of the world's largest publishers of monthly magazines, with 21 U.S. titles and close to 300 international editions. Hearst Magazines also publishes 19 magazines in the United Kingdom through its wholly owned subsidiary, Hearst Magazines UK.

Food Network Magazine is every food lover’s essential handbook: a monthly supply of expert advice, inspiring ideas and must-try recipes at every level. The magazine’s bright, lively design captures the energy of Food Network on every page, while story after story reminds readers that food is fun—and that anyone can cook like a star.

Job Description

Food Network Magazine is looking for superstar interns to join its editorial team this fall. Candidates must be driven, enthusiastic, organized and creative self-starters. An interest in food media is preferred. Daily responsibilities include assisting with research, transcribing interviews with Food Network Stars, obtaining ingredients for FOB recipe testing and organizing product samples. You’ll also have a chance to observe in-house photo shoots and assist with any recipe projects that pop up—taste testing is encouraged.

Interns work with the entire edit and food staffs and are encouraged to pitch food news and other feature ideas (there is the potential to write small items for the print magazine). Students MUST receive school credit and be available to work two days per week. This is an unpaid internship.
