Journalism Job
Media Organization: ProPublica
Company Description
ProPublica is an independent, non-profit newsroom that produces investigative journalism in the public interest.
Job Description
We are looking for a reporter to cover great stories on education in America. We want somebody with a track record of hard-hitting reporting, the kind of compelling stories that expose an injustice and hold players accountable. You do not need to have previously covered education.
Reporters at ProPublica have a wide berth to decide how best to tackle their subject areas. It will be the same with this job.
You'll also be working with some of the best people in the business. Our work can take many forms — from interactive news apps, to crowdsourcing, to just great scoops — all of which are in service of one goal: doing great journalism that can make a difference.
The job is full time and includes benefits. Our preference is that it be based at ProPublica's headquarters in New York.
ProPublica is committed to diversity and building an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds. Everyone is encouraged to apply, including women, LGBTQ people, people of color, and people with disabilities.
To Apply
To apply, send us a resume, examples of your best work and perhaps most importantly a detailed memo describing how you would approach the assignment. Send your email to reporting.jobs@propublica.org.
Your application will come into the inbox of several staff members, so there is no need to address it to a specific person.
