Journalism Internship

Media Organization: News-O-Matic

Company Description

Built by dedicated journalists, educators, and entrepreneurs, Press4Kids (P4K) is a publisher of daily news applications for young readers. Press4Kids was incorporated in 2012, and our team shares the goal of informing children about current news and world events — and inspiring them to read on a daily basis. We devoted a great deal of time and energy to ensure that our final products seamlessly combine literacy, fun, reading opportunities, and gamification to produce an engaging and interactive learning experience.
Our full-time staff and highly experienced team of writers are kept very busy, committed to delivering the latest news content every weekday, 52 weeks a year. As we continue to build our products and grow, we are driven by the idea of motivating a generation of conscientious global citizens. It’s what keeps us going.

Job Description

Be a part of America's Daily Newspaper Just for Kids! Join the News-O-Matic team to help deliver exciting news for young readers and help inspire a love of nonfiction at an early age. News-O-Matic is an interactive news experience, with a bestselling app downloaded more than 1 million times from 150 countries in the App Store. Learn what it’s like to be at the crossroads of journalism and education at the forefront of emerging media.

News-O-Matic is designed for elementary and middle school students, with a variety of levels for every article. Despite the young audience, the publication doesn’t shy away from complex stories. Topics range from world politics to scientific discoveries, sports, and art. An intern at News-O-Matic will be able to do much more than simple research. Each member of the team can submit story ideas, write articles, and research editorial content. Previous interns have conducted interviews with world-famous athletes and world leaders and amassed a portfolio of impressive bylines.

We are open to students for the remainder of the upcoming fall semester. We are flexible with hours and can work around an intern’s school schedule. Our office is based on 33rd Street and Madison Avenue in midtown Manhattan.

If you are a responsible, enthusiastic, and dedicated writer or reporter looking to make a difference in the world, send an email with your resume and a cover letter.

We're trying to inspire a love of reading nonfiction and empower a new generation of kids to love the news. Hopefully you share our passion.
