Job Description

Wouldn’t you love to work for a group of locally owned newspapers that's reinvesting in its people as well as its print and web products? We are New England Newspapers – The Berkshire Eagle, Bennington Banner, Brattleboro Reformer and Manchester Journal – the newspaper outfit in the Berkshires of Massachusetts and in Southern Vermont that's recently been purchased from Digital First Media by a group of local leaders. Our objective is this: Become the best local newspaper group in the United States. To make that happen, we're looking to hire the best journalists we can. We've already hired some outstanding news reporters, and we're looking to bring more on board. We are currently accepting resumes for the following positions:
1. News reporter at The Berkshire Eagle in Massachusetts. Based in our new Great Barrington bureau, you'll cover several towns in the culturally rich county, as well as report on social and community news events throughout the county. Bring your camera.
2. Investigative news reporter at The Berkshire Eagle in Massachusetts. Based in the Pittsfield newsroom, this is an everyday investigative news position and we'll carve out time for you to focus on larger scale projects. Bring your database skills.
3. News reporter at the Brattleboro Reformer in Vermont. Report on some great towns in the vibrant, arts-oriented and newsy community that is Windham County, and be in charge of covering public safety and courts in the region. Bring your nose for news.
4. News reporter at the Bennington Banner in Vermont. We're teaming up with Vermont Digger (VTDigger.org), the statewide news website, for this job reporting on Bennington County for a local and statewide audience. Bring your enterprise expertise.
5. Sports reporter at the Brattleboro Reformer in Vermont. Report on a happening high school sports area (from gamers to athlete profiles) and on an energetic four-season outdoors sporting scene (from cycling to skiing). Bring your sense of adventure.
We offer a competitive pay and benefits package. A bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field and/or a minimum of three years of news reporting experience at a daily or weekly publication is required.
