We are recruiting for a digital editor.
Gay City News is part of Schneps Community News Group, which is the largest publisher of local news throughout New York City and Long Island.

Job Description

This position involves writing breaking news, working with the editor-in-chief to support editing, strategizing on the best positioning of stories on the website, and overseeing Gay City News’ social media channels and e-newsletter products.
Ideal candidate will have strong social media and writing skills, have a passion for and understanding of the LGBTQ community and the critical issues affecting it, understand what makes a great story and show discerning judgment about credible sourcing, be proficient in WordPress and able to multitask on deadline, and be a self-starter confident in making appropriate time-sensitive decisions.
