Job Description

Editorial Intern
Wine & Spirits is seeking interns for our New York editorial department. Editorial internships are opportunities for aspiring writers to acquire professional experience, to work closely with editors and to learn about all phases of print and digital magazine publishing.

Interns research story concepts, conduct interviews and write for print, digital and social. They may check facts, help with special sections, and assist with editorial research. Interns will gain the kinds of critical writing, editing and revising skills that will enable them to produce content that meets the needs of both editors and readers. They should leave the Wine & Spirits internship with substantial bylines.

Responsibilities:
Write for the web and print
Assist editors with research and reporting
Fact check and proofread
Upload/manage event, news and other posts
Contribute to, proof, and edit social feeds

Qualifications
Background in journalism and/or creative writing
Ability to jump between often disparate tasks
Strong proofreading skills
Deadline oriented
Independent and self-motivated

Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in wine, spirits, and food; those with previous writing experience; and to students. Writing or editing experience in newspapers or magazines is an asset.

The internship is 12-20 hours per week for three months. For students, the intern supervisor can work with advisers to provide college credit for the internship experience.
