Job Description

We are looking for a creative, organized, hard-working editorial assistant with exceptional writing and reporting skills to work on PEOPLE's food and lifestyle editorial team—working simultaneously on both PEOPLE magazine and People.com. This person should be a quick, capable and accurate writer with an understanding of the fast pace of news, the PEOPLE voice and a knack for storytelling. An interest in chefs, cooking, and restaurants is also a must, and a knowledge of food and lifestyle celebrities is a plus. The candidate should have excellent organizational and time management skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or related field. Interest in entertainment news and food/lifestyle topics is desired, ideally with a past internship in either.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent writing, reporting and editing skills.
Passion for journalism with sound editorial judgment.
Advanced fact checking and research skills—must be resourceful, fast, savvy and accurate.
Must display high degree of interest in food, entertainment and lifestyle topics and personalities, with knowledge of media in general.
Good interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Mac, InCopy, WordPress, digital publishing tools (SEO, analytics, social media platforms, etc.).
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize.
Able to think creatively to pitch and conceptualize viable stories.
