Journalism Internship

Media Organization: Salon.com

Company Description

Salon has driven the national conversation since 1995 through its fearless journalism and, more recently, original video, distributed across Salon.com, social media, news platforms and mobile apps. Salon’s award-winning content reaches an audience of approximately 10 million monthly unique visitors.

Salon covers breaking news, politics, entertainment, culture, and technology through investigative reporting, commentary, criticism, and provocative personal essays. Our articles and original videos bring a variety of voices to the discussion and make the conversation smarter.

Job Description

Interns are an important part of Salon’s daily editorial operations. They work closely with Salon staff to research, report, write and produce our news and culture coverage. They also learn about the day-to-day workings of an award-winning online news and entertainment site. Many Salon interns have gone on to jobs in the media, including Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Elle, CNN and, of course, Salon.

We require a time commitment of at least 15 hours per week, over at least 2 days. Due to COVID-19, this is a completely remote position. This internship is for college credit. Some professional experience is required.

To Apply

To apply, please send a cover letter, resume and writing samples to saloninternships@salon.com. Tell us why you want to intern with Salon! Please specify in the subject line which vertical you're most interested in contributing to.
