Media Organization: Financial Services Volunteer Corps
Since 1990, FSVC has been delivering technical assistance projects in over 70 countries. These projects focus, among others, on helping banks lend to small businesses, setting up deposit insurance to protect people’s savings, and helping governments manage their budgets more effectively and transparently. Sound, inclusive and transparent financial infrastructures are critical to support job creation and support lasting economic growth in these countries. To do so, we provide objective technical assistance that focuses on sustainable, locally-owned impact. We are built on a culture of respect for all staff members, volunteer experts and counterparts. FSVC currently has field offices in Albania, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Morocco, Niger, Tajikistan and Tunisia. More here: www.fsvc.org.
The Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC) is looking for a highly motivated individual to assist in conducting research for a book that will describe the organization’s work over the past 32 years. Founded at U.S. Presidential initiative in 1990, FSVC’s mission is to deliver cutting-edge technical assistance to strengthen financial sectors in developing countries and thereby improve the lives of people in the countries where we work. We deliver this assistance mostly by recruiting senior-level financial experts to serve as volunteers on short-term missions.
The pay is $25/hour.
What You'll Do:
Among other tasks, you will be responsible for researching key financial and political events that took place since the 1990s, including global financial crises and events in specific countries where FSVC has operated. Other tasks include organizing historical paper archives to facilitate research, reviewing and editing drafts of book chapters, preparing footnotes and references, and preparing interview questions. For this project, you will work closely with FSVC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other FSVC staff, as needed.
