This role is for a PERSONAL assistant to a reporter, not a newsroom internship supervised by editors. Cybersecurity Law Report (cslawreport.com) is a weekly subscription business publication with a 3-person staff focusing on practical analysis of legal developments around cybersecurity, privacy, and AI. Its audience are business-world and government policy professionals. Articles run in-depth (2000-2500 words). The focus is news analysis, not breaking news (although we occasionally do). CSLR has 3 sister law publications within a larger journalism organization that includes financial markets news sites like Mergermarket and Debtwire. Limited opportunities for freelance articles, but a possibility if assistant is interested.

Job Description

Beat reporter covering cybersecurity, privacy and AI law for weekly legal analysis website is looking for personal research assistant (not formal intern) to work 2-4 hours a week, $20/hr. Tasks include:
• source and background research using Nexis
• lawsuit research using Pacer
• writing short memos to summarize research
• organizing and updating source lists
• summarizing transcripts of interviews and panel discussions.

Applicant needs no prior knowledge of technology policy, legal reporting, or tech business. Opportunity to learn about the beat area and related corporate law/finance publications.
