Contract Reporter

We are looking for a reporter to work in our New York office for five days each month on a contract freelance basis. You will write for our website and different sections of the paper, focusing on news and art market. You will be supervised by the US News editor, working closely with colleagues in the London and New York offices.

Our ideal candidate has experience of writing hard news stories. You will be able to generate your own pitches and also to take briefings from our editors.

You will be familiar with The Art Newspaper in its various forms: in print, online and through the papers we produce at the Basel and Frieze art fairs.

You must be able to write clearly, accurately and to deadline. You should have an eye for detail, be highly organized and have good interpersonal skills. You will be widely-read and up to date on art news.

Your application should include a cover letter, resume and two references. Please also send clips of what you consider to be your finest writing (no more than three) as PDF files.

We need a student with some news/interview experience to shoot/edit a series of short pieces produced by me and conducted in my office or on location.
