Contributing Writer/Columnist

The Identities section at PolicyMic strives to fill the gaps in the mainstream media definition of “Millennial.” To that end, Identities provides fresh, edgy analysis on issues that matter, and provide a safe space for discussion relating to questions of who we are, how we got here and where we are going.

PolicyMic is currently looking for contributors to write about these four main topics: Feminism, Women’s Issues, LGBT Equality and Race and Class in America. If you're someone who takes a disruptive take on media narratives, who has strong, intelligent opinions about questions of gender and sexuality, feminism or women's rights, we want to hear from you!

Style/Home Intern at HGTV Magazine

HGTV Magazine is looking for a Style/Home Contributor to work a few days a week in the spring. We need someone who is crafty, curious about the magazine industry, and excited to assist in photo shoots. The Style/Home Contributor will be assisting the Lifestyle Editor in developing concepts, prepping for meetings, and shopping for craft supplies. Ideal candidate must be well organized and have a roll up your sleeves attitude. This isn’t a writing job. Candidate should be available minimum 2 full days per week.

Travel News Writer

We are looking for a part-time writer to generate stories of interest to frequent travelers.

Freelance Video Journalist/Documentarian

Storyhunter, a web video journalism company based in New York, is ramping up its global coverage and looking for freelance video journalists and documentary filmmakers to produce 3-6 minute documentaries, which are then published by premier media companies like Yahoo, AOL, The International Business Times, PBS, Newsweek, The Economist and MSN.

As part of the global network, you'll have access to various assignments and editorial tools in Storyhunter's online platform created specifically for video journalists and documentary filmmakers.

The candidate should have at least 2 years of professional video journalism/documentary filmmaking experience and be capable of handling all aspects of production and post-production.

Writers/Website Content Contributors

We are seeking students to join our team to work remotely, with flexible hours and compensation per story or project. Responsibilities include fact-checking, writing stories for the website, researching stories, compiling directory entries and working in WordPress. Must be a detail-oriented self-starter who is able to work independently and must have a passion for exploring and showcasing independent food businesses.

Writer/Researcher

The NYU School of Law Office of Communications is hiring a graduate student to prepare a report for strategic planning purposes. The student will read/skim/consider a list of 10 or more books and perhaps a dozen articles on the transmission of ideas, why certain ideas stick, and social media and where it’s heading, and then write a report on the literature.

The report will be presented to a committee of faculty and administrators at the Law School.

Our ideal candidate is a critical thinker, strong writer, familiar with social media/marketing/branding, and interested in how ideas spread. Payment for this project will be dependent upon the hours worked, up to $1,500.

Sports Correspondent

As a Sports Correspondent, contributors at isportsweb.com will be assigned to cover a sports beat for a team they have interest in. As that team’s correspondent, contributors are expected to generate multiple stories per week about that team. These stories can and should be opinionated, and we give our writers freedom to pick topics they find relevant to their particular team.

While our contributors are unpaid to start, we do help all writers gain media credentials to games. This is not guaranteed, but we have been able to gain media access in the NFL, NCAA basketball and NCAA football.
