Our innovative branded journalism agency, ProseMedia.com, creates quality content (e.g., blog posts, web copy, e-books) for businesses and nonprofits.

This is an unpaid internship (for course credit) based near NYU, on Bleecker & Sullivan St. in NYC.

DURATION: Three-month minimum commitment
HOURS: 8 to 10 hours per week (minimum)

Research and Outreach Intern

SEEKING dedicated, passionate intern to assist in research and outreach for Hold Me Right, a documentary exploring the aftermath of sexual assault and abuse.

Our in-house team is small: we give interns a hands-on experience with real responsibilities, real training, and real guidance, essentially, an opportunity to have a real impact on the process of creating an important documentary which will change the dialogue in our society about sexual abuse and sexual assault. You will work closely with both the director and the producer.

We have 501(c)3 status and also have arrangements with a number of universities. We will provide full academic credit where necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a list of responsibilities that you will have the opportunity to accept:
-Research in multiple areas of interest for the film, including but not limited to issues surrounding sexual abuse
-Locating victims, offenders, and unique cases
-Reviewing current existing library of journalism surrounding these issues
-Pulling content from said existing journalism, summarizing, categorizing, providing input as to which pieces relate to different elements of the documentary
-Outreach to a wide variety of people and companies
-Writing copy for public relations
-Social media content creation and feed management

We firmly believe that an internship is first and foremost about training and experience. We prioritize these with our interns: you need to get as much as you can out of this collaboration.

QUALIFICATIONS (some or all of these):
-Passion for documentary, gender studies, journalism, collaboration, and/or social justice
-Experience in some form of research
-Ability to quickly find a needle in a haystack, somewhere on the internet
-Social media prowess
-Experience in documentary or video research is helpful but not necessary

Editorial Intern

Surface and sister publication, Watch Journal, a luxury lifestyle watch enthusiast publication, are seeking Editorial interns for the Spring. We're looking for students with strong editorial and writing skills; an interest in art, design, or architecture is also a plus. English, journalism, and art history majors are the best fit.

Creative Writer Editor Intern

We are looking for a writer/editor who will write about fun, life-changing experiences, products, events, and workshops, specifically how these products and experiences change your life and shift your perspective. Our goal is to support and encourage purpose-driven brands, and provide our audience with useful advice and resources that enable them to succeed and grow personally and professionally.

You will be expected to write four 800-900 word articles per month as it pertains to travel, creativity, positive psychology, lifestyle and culture, mind and body, social good and good news.

Responsibilities:
- Write, edit and proofread editorial articles and projects
- Work on special projects, as needed
- Attend lifestyle events and workshops
- Discover, review, and write about new lifestyle products
- Identify fresh stories, experiences, and products that are suitable to the brand
- Light administrative tasks

Qualifications:
- Working towards a Bachelor’s or Graduate's degree in journalism, public relations, English, business communications, marketing, or communication arts
- Must be highly creative, innovative and have strong writing and editing skills
- Ability to work effectively on a team and in a team environment
- Experience with MailChimp, WordPress, MS Word, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
- Must have attention to detail and accuracy with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interest in current events, must be well-attuned to news stories and activities that are important to the Amazing Perspective audience, and propose ideas to meet those interests
- Must be willing and open to learn
- MUST be located in New York City and able to come in to the office

Hours: Approximately 16 hours per week, ideally spread out over two days. The position lasts three months, after which time there may be an opportunity for renewal.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship with a travel stipend per month.

Paid Journalism Internship in Washington, D.C.

Since 1977, the National Journalism Center, a project of Young America's Foundation, has provided aspiring conservative and libertarian journalists with the premier opportunity to learn the principles and practice of responsible reporting. The National Journalism Center combines 12 weeks of on-the-job training at a Washington, D.C.-based media outlet and once-weekly training seminars led by prominent journalists, policy experts, and NJC faculty.
The program matches interns with print, broadcast, or online media outlets based on their interests and experience. Interns spend 30 hours/week gaining practical, hands-on journalism experience. Potential placements include The Washington Times, The Washington Examiner, CNN, Fox News Channel, and more.
Students will attend the NJC seminar one day a week, sharpening their writing and investigative reporting skills and gaining a better understanding of media, society, and public policy, and the intersection between the three in Washington, D.C.
Opportunities: Internships are offered summer 2017 (May 31-Aug 18).

BBC Capital Intern

BASIC FUNCTION

Help with and contribute to day-to-day tasks of Capital’s production — specifically creating bespoke graphics, data visualizations and illustrations to tell visual stories for the website and for use on social media.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Work with part-time data researcher to create data visualizations to run on BBC Capital and its social accounts.
2. Contribute to Capital’s social media efforts
3. Pitch data-rich ideas for the researcher to investigate and carry out the illustration/visualization or story slideshows for Capital
4. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience with data visualization, illustration and, preferably some journalism or reporting (can be in school)
2. Experience using the Adobe Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator
3. Interest in career/spending/global expat-related topics
4. Experience using or ability to quickly learn graphic production
5. Ability to take direction well, but also work independently
6. Reliable and able to meet deadlines
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
8. Eligible for College credit

BBC.com Features Intern

The intern will help produce, film and edit stories for BBC Travel, BBC Auto and BBC Capital, produce and film Facebook live segments and help with promotion in social media.

Candidates with a strong interest in digital storytelling, sound journalistic judgement and film/edit skills are highly appreciated.
