Editorial Intern

offMetro.com, an award-winning online green travel resource covering car-free getaways from New York and San Francisco, is seeking part-time editorial interns to start in its offMetro NY offices immediately.

offMetro is expanding quickly, and is in the process of being acquired by one of the largest newspaper publishers in the world. The ideal candidate must have 1-2 years of writing experience in the online media and/or print publishing field.

A love of travel and ability to meet tight deadlines is essential. Interns may be asked to go on press trips—be it in the outer boroughs, upstate New York, or throughout the northeast—and deliver a story upon return. (It is not uncommon for editorial interns to travel internationally as well.) Interns will be expected to submit 1-2 short posts per week. Candidates with social media and photography skills will be given special consideration.

In addition to the travel perks, oM is a great place to grow your portfolio, refine your travel writing voice, and have your byline appear in several media outlets, including offMetro SF and its upcoming daily print section, as well its columns in the Huffington Post and Budget Travel. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from seasoned journalists who've worked at such publications as the New Yorker, Los Angeles Magazine, Bicycling Magazine, Marie Claire, and the New York Times.

This internship is unpaid, but can lead to freelance positions.

We are looking for:
*Strong writing ability
*Experience in online media or print publishing
*Ability to work independently and on deadline
*Photography skills
*Social Media savvy

Please email a resume and one relevant writing sample to the editor, Lauren Matison at lauren@offmetro.com

Stereogum is seeking NYC-based Editorial Interns for Summer 2014.

The Stereogum Editorial Internship is an exclusive program that accepts a small number of applicants each semester. The program is open to students currently enrolled in journalism and/or creative writing programs.

The internship offered here is multifaceted. The right applicant will be involved with all aspects of the site's editorial and production process, which includes (but is not limited to): assisting writers and editors with research, transcription, and reporting; assembling posts in the site's admin; curating photo galleries; setting up video and audio streams; vetting new artists for coverage; assisting in curation and assembly of live events; and of course writing for Stereogum.

The right applicant will be highly ambitious and deeply plugged into new music, with goals to work in music journalism and/or the field of music. He or she should be a skilled writer with some web background as well as social media savvy.

Stereogum Editorial Interns are expected to work two (2) full days per week; schedules are flexible, however, and will be based on both parties’ needs and availability. Editorial Interns should have access to a laptop and smartphone; additionally, it wouldn’t hurt to own a digital camera and digital audio recorder.
