Louise Blouin Media, publisher of Art+Auction and Modern Painters magazines, is seeking editorial interns for the fall term.
Duties will include research, fact-checking, transcribing interviews, updating the editorial calendar, as well as some administrative work. As part of a tight-knit team, interns will have opportunities to report and write, and will gain insight into both the art world and the process of editing and publishing a monthly magazine. Interns will work with both magazines.
An interest in the visual arts, the art market, and/or contemporary culture is important. So are good writing and communications skills, and attention to detail. Ideally, candidates will currently be enrolled in an undergraduate program, though recent graduates are welcome to apply as well.
Internships require a commitment of two days a week for a minimum of three months and may be done in exchange for academic credit, though receiving school credit is not mandatory. We offer a daily stipend to cover lunch and travel.
We need interns to come in at least 2 days a week to our office in Chelsea (it doesn't necessarily have to be two full 8-hour days) and work on a variety of tasks including compiling event listings, writing news briefs, doing man-on-the-street interviews, taking photos, and writing features/profiles/news articles. Lots of opportunities for bylines!
60 Minutes is a CBS News magazine with investigative reports and features focusing on people and events in the news and behind the headlines. Applicants must be proficient with Lexis-Nexis, must have excellent research skills, must know that they want to work in broadcast journalism and must be eager and prepared to take advantage of this rare opportunity. Juniors, seniors and graduate students are eligible. The time commitment is 2 full weekdays. This is an unpaid internship. Students are required to get college credit.

- Pitch feature ideas such as best of lists series. These lists should be informative, unique or entertaining. Something that people will want to browse through.
- Research and fact check content that would be included in features
- Organize and update spreadsheets of potential content
- Keep tabs on live music news through customs twitter feed/email update
