Summary Description

The Pulitzer Prize-winning Center for Public Integrity seeks a detail-oriented digital journalist to produce daily and multi-part investigative projects on www.publicintegrity.org and other digital platforms.

The Digital Editor will lead newsroom presentation for the Center’s groundbreaking investigative journalism. The Digital Editor owns the production schedule for the editorial calendar, and coordinates the various components of a project from conception to publication. The successful candidate will have a knack for compelling storytelling and an ability to clearly, calmly and creatively present complex, long-form projects.

This is a terrific opportunity to do impactful public-service journalism in a collegial work environment in the heart of the nation’s capital.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

Work with other editors in managing the production process to ensure projects receive the best possible digital presentation;
Lead production meetings to make sure everything comes together for editorial projects;
Design and lay out our reports in a visually compelling manner, including photos, graphics and multimedia components, and schedule publishing;
Collaborate to help compose story headlines and summary copy;
Commission and oversee photography, graphics and artwork;
Design charts, lists and other simple graphic elements as needed;
In partnership with the Audience Engagement Editor, track site analytics and use data to inform decisions and report to the newsroom;
Help editors publish on the website and distribute Center work to syndicated partners;
Manage website development and design as we maintain, evolve and eventually replace our existing platform.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:

At least two years’ experience in digital journalism;
Some design or visual journalism experience preferred;
Sound knowledge of HTML and CSS; JavaScript a bonus;
Highly proficient in web-based publishing tools and technologies;
Excellent headline writing and copy editing skills;
Proficient in Photoshop, AP Style, analytics tools and social media platforms;
Entrepreneurial, curious and passionate about investigative reporting;
Bachelor’s degree or higher.

The Managing Editor

Leads the editorial direction, ensuring the channel is up-to- date and meets our goal of giving users complete understanding of malnutrition issues, including childhood nutrition and stunting
Generates: background guides on childhood nutrition and stunting; data-driven insights and policy analysis; personal and community-based stories that ground the policy and research in ways that are approachable and personal; perspectives and commentaries from health analysts and practitioners around the world; multimedia stories with photo and video components
Helps oversee and manage freelance contributors.
Contributes interviews, analyses and reporting.
Works with the Community Editor to lead the development and management of a community of experts who are both users and contributors to the platform and events.
Increases audience engagement and traffic to site by actively assisting with social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.).
Assists with the development and delivery of events, if necessary
Regularly and actively contributes to an open sharing of ideas as we seek to perpetually improve our products.
QUALIFICATIONS

Solid background (6+ years) in journalism, preferably at a major newspaper, website or magazine.
Advanced understanding of nutrition issues in the developing world.
Extremely strong writing and editing skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced news environment.
Advanced multimedia skills desirable.

Journalist

Korea Risk Group, the parent company of NK News, is seeking a Seoul-based, bilingual Korean / English journalist on a full-time permanent basis.

A strong news sense, creative approach to the topic, demonstrable North Korea reporting experience, ability to grasp and communicate complex geopolitical issues, and a proven ability to work independently are all critical skills for this role.

Full-time North Korea Correspondent responsibilities:
- Writing unique and high-quality news stories about North Korea, daily
- Writing regular features, investigations, and analyses on contemporary topics of interest for subscribers
- Regular solicitation of thought-provoking opinion and qualified analysis from outside contributors within correspondent’s network
- Building and maintaining contacts in the North Korea community

Desired qualifications:
- Ideally at least two to three years experience in digital or print journalism
- High-quality Korean language skills (native fluency preferable, but not required)

Reporter

Several openings exist for ambitious journalists to cover the financial and real estate markets for a long-standing newsletter publisher.

Candidates should have at least three years experience with a passion for scoops and developing great sources, although a track record covering those markets is not a prerequisite.

Web Producer

PIX11 News is looking for a passionate, talented and hard-working freelance web producer to help manage PIX11.com and its social platforms.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for breaking news as well as for New York City, while also being expert in social media, SEO and other tools to grow PIX11’s digital audience while increasing engagement with viewers.

The right person for this job will be able to produce fast, compelling and accurate content, and help take PIX11.com to the next level as an important source for news and video with a strong local focus.

Fostering Media Connections (FMC), a journalism non-profit focused on issues affecting vulnerable children, youth and their families, is seeking a reporter-editor to anchor its coverage of child welfare and juvenile justice issues in New York.

We are seeking a seasoned journalist to take on an exciting new role with FMC. This person will write and edit news and feature stories about the child welfare and juvenile justice systems in both New York City and state. The ideal candidate will be passionate about children’s issues and news writing.

Stories produced, assigned and edited by the reporter-editor will primarily appear in FMC’s flagship news site, the California-based The Chronicle of Social Change. But his or her work will also feed into FMC’s other publications – Fostering Families Today and Adoption Today – when appropriate.

We prize good news judgment; accuracy, precision and clarity; ability to work quickly; and a strong work ethic.
