We are looking for someone who is excited about business reporting, and who sees the possibility for great stories in one of the most dynamic real estate markets in the world. Competitive salary and opportunities to grow in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.

Reporter

Absolute Return has an opening on its news desk for a full-time reporter covering the U.S. hedge fund industry.

The position, based in Union Square, Manhattan, requires the ability to develop sources, a passion for producing daily breaking exclusive news, and an investigative drive. This is a pure, original reporting role, with no rewriting of press releases, aggregation or repeating the days’ headlines.

Reporting experience is required, as is the ability to be tenacious in the face of resistance. The position offers the opportunity for rapid advancement for the right candidate.

Election Agents for Reuters

Reuters is collecting election results on Nov. 4 for the first time in history across all 50 states.
We are looking for people to go to the county locations and input the results into a mobile application and/or call county officials for results. We are hiring in New York state and other locations around the country.

You will be trained ahead of time on how to do this, where to show up and/or who to call. You will be paid $100 (or more, some locations include a bonus). This is a great way to learn about our democratic process and how it really works.

Thank you for your interest in advance.

The link below will you take you through the process. (It can be a bit cumbersome because we are hiring 3500-500 people across the country and validation for candidates is required.)

The Sioux City Journal is seeking a mobile journalist.

This is primarily a writing position, and we expect a reporter who is a skilled wordsmith. The right candidate will be able to cover breaking news using a variety of tools, including photo, video and social media. The shift is Saturday-Wednesday.

This reporter will aggressively pursue breaking and spot news, act as a vigilant watchdog for our readers’ interests, and be able to tell a good story for print and digital. Our next reporter must understand journalism is changing rapidly and have the desire and skills to adapt.

The Journal, part of Lee Enterprises Inc., has won numerous state and national honors. We offer an exciting environment in which to grow and leaders who will demand your best work.

Sioux City, on the banks of the Missouri River, is a thriving community in Northwest Iowa, with fantastic schools, a stable economy and affordable housing. Our downtown has a vibrant collection of restaurants, museums and entertainment venues that attract national touring acts and Broadway productions.

Reporting Fellow

Bedford + Bowery, a news site produced by NYU Journalism in collaboration with New York magazine, is pleased to offer a 6-month fellowship for recent grads of the Arthur L. Carter Institute. We're seeking applicants who can start immediately.

As a B+B fellow, you'll be reporting five full days per week, from 10am to 6pm, for the "best new local blog" (per L magazine) covering downtown Manhattan and North Brooklyn. The pay is $600/week.

We're seeking reporters who are eager to produce lively, engaging, and timely stories with a focus on the East Village, LES, Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Bushwick (though you needn't necessarily be constrained to those neighborhoods). Applicants will ideally be savvy about the neighborhoods listed above or at the very least eager to explore them to the hilt, with an eye for news minutia as well as larger stories in the areas of education, politics, crime, housing and real estate, arts and culture, and business openings and closings, to name just some of our areas of coverage. You should be able to cultivate sources and write quickly and accurately, with an engaging, “bloggy” tone and sense of humor when appropriate.

You’ll be on call at 20 Cooper Square to report stories as assigned by the site's editor. Since you’ll also be encouraged to pitch stories and even come up with ideas for regular columns during editorial meetings, creative thinking and a familiarity with the blogosphere is a plus. We’re looking for someone who is proactive, eager to share ideas, and has a sense of fun. But above all, the site strives to be the first to report neighborhood news in a competitive environment; you should be able to thrive under tight deadlines and turn around copy that meets the standards of New York magazine, editors of which work closely with the site in case a story warrants pick-up across other New York magazine blogs or in the magazine. They also are looking closely at B+B's daily file for emerging talent. You should expect to write at least one story per day, and be able to work on longer features while also producing shorter items.

The deadline for applications is Thursday, Oct 27. Please send your resume, along with links to your work, to danielm@nyu.edu with the subject line "Fellowship application."
