Video Producer / Journalist

The NationSwell Video Producer must be able to fully develop mission-aligned documentary content. This entails preproduction, high-quality shooting and editing and producing stories by coordinating with subjects, freelancers and gathering secondary materials such as images, relevant statistics from reliable sources and music. The video producer will also be actively involved in outreach and distribution by alerting relevant websites to new content, recutting content for Facebook publication and actively looking for and exploiting new distribution channels.

The video producer is also expected to pitch two to three new, mission-aligned and researched story ideas every month.

In addition to editorial work, the video producer will work on sponsored and partnership (branded) content. In executing this work, the video producer will need to seamlessly communicate with sources, corporate social responsibility-office contacts and our own NationSwell partnership team to ensure we are telling high-quality stories that satisfy the objectives of all parties involved.

The ideal applicant is a video journalist that has also successfully completed several branded projects.

Applicant must be able to
1) Shoot high-quality video and capture audio as a one-person band, in all manner of settings both indoor and outdoor
2) Professionally light for interviews
3) Develop pre-produced pitches
4) Professionally edit and proficiently color correct and sound mix
5) Stay abreast of current events and developments with social enterprises
6) Stay abreast of video technology, as well as the rapidly-changing online video world
7) Get along with all manner of personalities and calmly execute under pressure

It is a plus if applicant
1) Can proficiently speak a second common American language (Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic)
2) Has working knowledge of graphics programs like After Effects, Motion
3) Has a network of video producers and sources to call upon for story production and ideas
4) Has produced shoots before, ideally from afar

In this position you will help establish and maintain strong two-way communications between the AMNPO and its stakeholders. These include all federal agencies involved in advanced manufacturing; the member institutes of the Manufacturing USA network; the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy; industry; academia; the general public; and other entities involved in manufacturing (such as state organizations and industry groups).

You will work with the AMNPO program staff on presentations, speeches, official announcements, websites, meeting materials, exhibits, publications, social media, and an annual report and strategic plan. Responsibilities include advising program managers on tailoring communications to specific audiences in support of strong customer service. You will also collaborate with communications directors at the institutes and partner agencies.

The position requires clear writing and strong editing skills as well as knowledge of reporting, writing, and outreach approaches to create communications products that serve stakeholders needs; skill in interpersonal relationships required to establish and maintain stakeholder contacts, effectively using Web-based social media to amplify NIST news announcements, and designing communications strategies and tactics.

Assistant Account Executive

Research Editor

Journalist for Social Science Research Projects

New Knowledge Organization Ltd. is looking for a freelance journalist to use public media outlets to tell the story of social science research for National Science Foundation-funded initiatives and other projects.
