The News Journal/delawareonline.com is looking for a high-energy reporter to cover breaking news.
We are in a highly competitive market and getting it right and being first is very important. We like to pop breaking news stories as soon as we can, then throughout the story’s life cycle, develop it further with deeper reporting and video.
While there will be plenty of breaking news, there will also be opportunities for enterprise and trend stories which would open the door to other beats in the newsroom.
The successful candidate will show the ability to engage with sources beyond police and fire PIOs, to include members of neighborhood watch groups and others with first-hand knowledge of news events.
Our reporters have a digital-first mindset, breaking news online in ways tailored to reader interests using metrics and other tools to drive coverage.
