Job Description

The Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS) is seeking a dynamic and creative individual to serve as Communications Officer. This position will work closely with Communications and Program staff to develop and implement effective strategies for delivering CHCS messages to Medicaid stakeholders. The communications officer will be responsible for a variety of writing projects and will also oversee online community building to facilitate the sharing of Medicaid best practices with key audiences. The position requires a well-rounded candidate with exceptional writing, editing, and oral communication skills and an interest in health policy/public health.

Responsibilities
 Work closely with Communications and Program staff to develop and execute communications plans for select CHCS initiatives related to health reform, improving Medicaid quality, and children with complex needs.
 Assist in the development, writing, and editing of various publications, including policy briefs, case studies, reports, project descriptions, press releases, toolkits, and other copy as necessary.
 Coordinate national webinars to disseminate key health policy messages to Medicaid stakeholders across the country.
 Assist in developing effective online strategies, e.g., e-outreach, blog postings, etc., to reach target audiences.
 Build media relationships to position CHCS as an expert on improving quality in publicly financed care. Handle press inquiries as necessary.
 Handle special projects related to communications as assigned.
