Paid Journalism Internship
Media Organization: Psychology Today
Psychology Today is the only general interest magazine devoted exclusively to everybody’s favorite subject: ourselves. Founded in 1967, Psychology Today covers all aspects of human behavior, from the workings of the brain to the bonds between people and the larger cultural forces that drive our most intimate decisions. At www.psychologytoday.com, postings by hundreds of bloggers on everything from personality to public health are viewed more than 20 million times each month.
Psychology Today has an excellent opportunity for a few smart and talented editorial interns at our office in New York. We are a small staff, so you’ll be a key member of the team.
Interns pitch story ideas and write short articles for the magazine and the staff blog. They typically receive a byline each issue. Other duties include working closely with staff on story research and special projects, proofing print and online copy, helping to manage content on our website and blog network, and occasional transcription and light clerical work.
Journalism experience and an interest in human behavior required. Background in psychology and/or experience writing science stories not mandatory, but a major plus. Must be able to juggle several tasks at once and work autonomously.
Position runs May through August, 2-5 days a week.
To apply, email a resume, cover letter, and three clips (links are fine) to email@example.com by March 18.
