Media Organization: 1000 Cookbooks
The Company: 1000 Cookbooks is building a new digital platform for the best culinary content. We are currently working with publishers from Penguin Random House and HarperCollins to Chronicle to W.W. Norton to license content from the most essential and noteworthy cookbooks.
To help us identify and curate these very best cookbooks, we've collated the votes of hundreds of leading chefs and food writers from across the globe to build a ranking of the best. From the US, our panelists and collaborators include Harold McGee, Melissa Clark, Wolfgang Puck, Daniel Boulud, Lidia Bastianich, and Ruth Reichl, to name but just a smattering. Currently, this list is available to be viewed, explored and shared. We are now developing the subscription phase of the platform offering users digital access to the entire content of the titles on the Top 1000 list.We liken it to Spotify for cookbooks. The subscription phase will be launched in the fall/ winter of 2016.

1000 Cookbooks, a digital culinary publishing platform - think of it as Spotify for cookbooks, is looking for a NYC-based assistant. A start-up company with the support of country's culinary cognoscenti from Harold McGee, Ruth Reichl, Amanda Hesser, Lidia Bastianich to Daniel Boulud and Wolfgang Puck among many, many other extraordinary food influencers, 1000 Cookbooks is looking for an enthusiastic cookbook lover and unabashedly keen foodie to help launch a first-of-its kind subscription site providing access to the very best cookbook content.
Duties would include researching and communicating with publishers, research into book rights, social media outreach, creating editorial content such as writing author bios and profiles, writing food inspired seasonal articles, communicating with cookbook authors and food writers, fact-checking and general research tasks.
Time Commitment: 10 hours a week (flexible)
In return, the assistant will gain intimate knowledge of how a digital platform is formed and the nuts and bolts of launching a start-up. This is an ideal role for anyone looking to get into food writing or digital food publishing.
