• Reviews online, print, and video script copy and sources provided by writers and editors for completeness and accuracy.
• Works with a high degree of autonomy and checks highly sensitive pieces, such as high profile content.
• Ensures text is accurate and is derived from appropriate sources.
• Works with writers and editors on sourcing issues and wording of articles.
• Suggests clarifying phrases or wording to ensure accurate presentation of facts.
• Locates additional sources of data to validate facts.
• Makes recommendations to improve departmental processes.
• Ensures appropriate documentation of fact checking materials and content at the conclusion of story.
• May conduct research on a topic and write a related article.

• College graduate, graduate credits preferred or equivalent experience with at least 3 - 5 years work experience-doing research for a magazine or newspaper.
• Must demonstrate excellent research skills and knowledge of fact-checking procedures.

• Must be able to translate very complex statistical and technical data into plain English.

It’s not a small mission, but it’s one that is long overdue, given the technology available, the opportunities that arise all over the globe, and the need for thoughtful, honest, transparent, user-generated content from people who do not need to sell advertising or continuously provide click-bait. We need a couple of energetic journalism or communications students who can organize testers, coordinate feedback, and help us grow and develop the app.
We will provide extensive guidance as to what we need done. If you’re in NYC, we will meet regularly, but we expect you to work on a project/task-oriented basis. We expect tons of communication.
We can’t offer much to start, but if you’re good and work at the opportunity, we’re happy to reward you. And clearly, we seek future potential employees. For now, this is an independent contractor position. It’s all about the app.

We are looking to hire a freelance editor responsible for creating new content ideas and editing the work of our writers for our authority content sites. Our company builds and manages authority websites in a few different vehicles (real estate, healthcare, fashion, etc.).
