Fall 2019 Editorial Internship

Interns are an important part of Salon’s daily editorial operations. They work closely with Salon staff to research, report, write and produce our news and culture coverage. They also learn about the day-to-day workings of an award-winning online news and entertainment site. Many Salon interns have gone on to jobs in the media, including Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Elle, CNN and, of course, Salon.

This internship is for college credit. Some professional experience is required.

Editorial Intern

Be a part of America's first daily newspaper just for kids! Join the News-O-Matic team to help deliver exciting news for young readers to help inspire a love of journalism at an early age.

As an Editorial Intern, you will be asked to help in the following ways:
• Collaborate with Editorial Team to help build the most engaging and appealing content for the edition each day.
• Perform research as required, including topics for news selection and background for existing stories; research may include web-based fact-finding or traditional reporting, such as interviewing subjects.
• Provide suggestions to best determine how to relay the information in a fun, engaging way that will appeal to target audience.
• Assist with the selection and organization of media (images and video) to accompany the stories of the day; perform audio and video editing on software as well.
• Write original content as directed by the Editor in Chief, including news articles for publication.
• Perform a variety of editorial tasks, including fact checking and running readability metrics on articles.
• Review and proofread content to ensure accuracy.

Hearst Lifestyle Group Food Department Internship

The Hearst Lifestyle Group’s Food Department is looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented food enthusiast to support the team during the fall semester. This is an opportunity to work and learn in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment with a team that’s responsible for producing the food content for Good Housekeeping, Woman’s Day, Women’s Health, Prevention, and Country Living, as well as other Hearst titles. This position is ideal for anyone seeking to learn more about food journalism at major women’s magazine brands. You’ll gain valuable exposure to the editorial process while working on multiple titles simultaneously. You’ll see first-hand how recipes are created in the test kitchen and food stories are conceptualized and realized.

·         Participate in editorial brainstorm sessions for monthly features and articles.
·         Participate in product and recipe tastings.
·         Keep abreast of new products, trends, food personalities, and relevant tips.

Editorial Internship

Cosmopolitan is looking for summer interns to join our smart, funny, internet-obsessed team! Our internship program requires at least 16 hours a week which is ideally broken up into 2-3 days at the office. Interns will be responsible for assisting with any editorial tasks including transcribing interviews, conducting research, updating photo galleries and other online content, and developing content for the social media channels. When needed, they will also assist with fashion and beauty video/photo shoots. During the intern’s time at Cosmo, they will gain a wealth of experience working for a publication that has successfully integrated digital and print. Students must be undergraduates who are able to receive course credit to apply to this internship.

Marie Claire 2019 Summer Features Intern

Marie Claire’s features department is looking to hire bright, detail-oriented editorial interns for summer 2019. Candidates must have an interest in career news, international women’s news, entertainment/culture, and relationships. This is NOT a fashion internship.

The internship experience includes shadowing features editors while they put together upcoming issues, and learning how to research, report, pitch, write and transcribe interviews for a national magazine. We’re looking for interns who can work at least two days, preferably full time. The internship is unpaid and all applicants must be able to receive school credit.

 

Women's Health Beauty Summer Intern

Women’s Health magazine is offering a highly competitive and educational internship for Summer 2019. Candidates must be enthusiastic about beauty, detail-oriented, hardworking, and organized. Previous editorial experience is a plus. Interns MUST be receiving academic credit for this internship experience. Candidates should be able to intern 2 days a week from early May through mid August (or a full summer semester). May 2019 grads will not be considered.

City & State magazine editorial internship

City & State magazine is accepting internship applications from students seeking journalism experience for academic credit. Two positions are available starting Sept. 16 in the editorial department and may involve reporting, research, fact gathering and other related responsibilities. The internship runs about 3 months during the semester, about 16 hours per week; start date and time frame flexible. Position is unpaid; interns MUST be able to receive academic credit.
