Summer Editorial Intern

Surface, an art, architecture, and design magazine, is seeking summer editorial interns. We're looking for students with strong editorial and writing skills; an interest in art, design, or architecture is also a plus. English, journalism, and art history majors will probably be the best fit.

Our interns get great hands-on experience and often receive bylines in the magazine. It's a fantastic chance for students interested in an editorial career to get clips and to see what goes on behind the scenes at a magazine.

Duties include fact checking, writing, performing small research projects, assisting with social media, and other activities as needed. Interns will also help as needed with writing for Surface's sister title, Watch Journal, which covers fine timepieces.

Summer Intern, Web Editorial

CountryLiving.com is seeking an hard-working, enthusiastic editorial intern for the summer 2015 semester. This internship will be a very hands-on experience working closely with our small web editorial team, and duties include pitching and writing/reporting story ideas, building content in our CMS, conducting editorial research, and helping to manage our social media accounts.

Our ideal candidate will have an interest in and enthusiasm for home decorating, food, and crafting, as well as be a fast learner with excellent grammar skills. Candidates must have previous journalism experience; prior web and Photoshop experience a plus!

Summer Editorial Intern

The intent of our program is to give students a real taste of magazine life. Interns are key members of the staff and are treated as such. Some of our former interns have gone on to full-time jobs in magazine publishing, armed with research, writing, and reporting skills that they honed during their time with us.

The primary areas of responsibility during the four-month internships are fact checking, research/reporting, completing short writing assignments, and staff participation/interaction.

Please note that while there is the chance to write short pieces (between 150-250 words) for the magazine as well as the website, this is not a writing internship. The majority of our intern work focuses on fact checking and research.

All applicants must still be students. (Sorry, we are unable to accept applications from recent graduates.) Course credit is offered but is not a requirement.

We will offer three unpaid editorial internships this summer. Each internship is 15 hours per week. We understand that many students need to earn money over the summer and we are flexible with scheduling. Our offices are located in the Carew Tower in Downtown Cincinnati. Parking is included.
