BioTechniques, a globally circulated life science publication that reaches an audience of more than 80,000 scientists, is currently seeking a science writing intern to develop and write news stories and feature articles for the online portion of the publication. This science writing internship provides a unique opportunity to learn about and participate in the creation of multimedia news content from inception to publication. Upon completion of this internship, you will have generated a professional science journalism portfolio consisting of news stories and feature articles published at BioTechniques.com, obtained a strong understanding of the latest cutting-edge research occurring in the life sciences, and developed numerous contacts within the greater biology community. The proposed length of the internship is four (4) months. Previous interns have gone on to full-time employment as well as highly respected graduate programs in science journalism.

Brides.com and Brides Local Magazine Photo and Art Intern
The photo and art department of Brides.com and Brides Local Magazines (Condé Nast’s sixteen regional bridal publications) is looking for an intern for the Fall 2011 semester.
Duties include assisting with photo research, image processing for the website, creating blog images, sending contracts and issues to contributors, maintaining the image server, and general administrative tasks.
We are looking for someone who is creative, energetic, and detail-oriented. This is a great opportunity for a self-starter to learn the ins-and-outs of producing both a magazine and website. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and the Microsoft Office Suite is a must. This is a for-credit internship with a small travel stipend. The ideal candidate’s schedule will allow for two to three days in the office a week. (No more than 20 hours a week to meet NYU policies.)

Production Internship Fall 2011
As a production intern, daily duties involve:
-Making phone calls
-Story research
-Retrieving show ratings, tips, emails, etc
-Assisting field crew and reporters on shoots
-Assisting producers and story coordinators on story developments
-Hands on involvement in the daily taping of Inside Edition
Multimedia internship
The multimedia internship requires candidates to live locally and have full access to a car. Interns report to Newsday's Melville office and are often out covering assignments for the Web site. The ideal candidate would be familiar with the principles of video editing and shooting video for a news website. Interns will have the opportunity to produce non-linear pieces for newsday.com, as well as shoot spot news and feature pieces for the Web. Multimedia interns must receive school credit.
Editorial internship
The editorial internship is intensely hands-on, and a number of previous interns have been hired as full-time employees. You will be publishing stories, photos, polls and other multimedia extras; writing blog posts; working on social media outreach; and coordinating with reporters, editors and others to keep fresh content flowing to the site. You may also be assigned to write stories and assist with breaking news. You will also assist in the production of longer-term multimedia projects. Previous projects have included multi-part articles, a special report on Alzheimer's and a comprehensive voters' guide. Interns may also be assigned to work specifically on the Long Island news section of the site, or Towns (community journalism), Sports, Entertainment or ExploreLI (our local destination and event-based section). Editorial interns report to Newsday's Melville office and must receive school credit.

Psychology Today has an excellent opportunity for a few smart and talented editorial interns at our office in New York. We are a small staff, so you'll be a key member of the team. Duties include working closely with editors on story research and special projects, light clerical work, web-related work including HTML and data loading, and proofing copy. Interns also pitch story ideas and write articles for the magazine. They typically receive two or three bylines per issue, and some have written one- or two-page stories. Background in psychology not mandatory, but a plus. We're looking for interns who can write clear and engaging prose and have a real interest in human behavior. Must be able to juggle several tasks at once and work autonomously. Position runs August/September through December, three or more days a week. Position includes a small daily stipend.
